TIA Suisse carried out a specialized remediation project at the UN headquarters in Geneva as part of a three-year framework contract. During the project, we removed and treated materials contaminated with asbestos, PCBs and lead, with particular attention to paints containing pollutants.

As part of a programme to protect worker health, TIA conducted extraordinary remediation work at the Ansaldo Breda plant in Reggio Calabria, which had already undergone previous remediation activities.

During the operations, we removed false ceilings and completely cleaned dust containing asbestos fibres from the metal structures, systems, walls and floors in various production departments.

This work, which was done exclusively during the summer production break, required dedicated equipment and many specialized workers, as well as containment, suction and final testing procedures based on SEM analysis.

The project involved an office complex consisting of two 18-storey towers (for a total area of about 50,000 m²) undergoing complete redevelopment to restore the bank’s operational activities.

The activities carried out by TIA included the remediation of flocked asbestos, expansion joints, linoleum and glues, fire-resistant cables, mastics and gaskets, as well as managing and treating contaminated waste according to current international agreements.

Work to secure the building, with remediation and disposal of insulating materials containing asbestos and MMVF in the former raw material milling department at a plant in Barletta.

Asbestos remediation, strip out of pipes not containing asbestos and removal of boilers at a sports centre in Bergamo. As part of the activities, TIA secured the systems and carefully managed the materials being removed.

On behalf of EDF, TIA removed asbestos from 204 buildings at the former NATO air base in Toul-Rosières, France. As part of the activities, we removed flocked asbestos, asbestos cement roofing and cladding, flooring, ducts and friable materials.
The buildings were then demolished to enable the construction of one of the largest solar parks in the world.

Asbestos and lead remediation work at the Halle Maxwell as part of the Village des Athlètes Universeine in Saint-Denis. During the work, TIA managed an area contaminated by asbestos and treated metal structures and building components in various stages, including sandblasting, chemical pickling and the controlled removal of contaminated coatings.

Asbestos and lead remediation work on historic and industrial buildings located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. During the activities, we treated 8 areas containing asbestos materials and 12 areas where lead paint had been used, working on structural elements, finishes and building components.

The work was carried out with operating teams ranging from 4 to 18 employees, depending on the construction phases.

Asbestos remediation at the site of the former EDF Port Ouest power plant on the island of Réunion, divided into several operational phases. During the work, contaminated concrete debris, coatings and insulating materials were treated by creating dynamic confinement under negative pressure and using controlled air-exchange systems.

The initial phase involved safety operations prior to the main remediation, while the second phase was dedicated to treating contaminated plaster present in the basements of the buildings already subject to intervention.

Remediation and waste management in the former Romagnina area of Milan as part of the urban reorganization programme for the new settlement under the Lombardy Region. TIA oversaw excavation and disposal of contaminated soil, material approval, excavation tests and subsequent backfilling with certified material.

The work took place in an urban setting that was operationally complex, requiring particular attention to containing environmental impacts and maintaining the continuity of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Detailed design and implementation of emergency safety measures for a landfill located at the ‘Litorale Domitio Flegreo ed Agro Aversano’ site in the Municipality of Castel Volturno.

Activities included the construction of a surface cap, the enhancement of rainwater drainage and the adaptation of the biogas and leachate networks,  as well as environmental remodelling and mitigation work in the area.

Work to secure part of a lake contaminated by diesel spillage via physical confinement with oil-absorbing barriers and containment rolls. The remediation was completed technologically by spraying a special, highly certified product to eliminate odours and iridescence.
The operation involved about 800 m² of water and 200 metres of coastline, with the complete removal of any traces of hydrocarbons.

Railway dismantling and remediation prior to the redevelopment of the Greco Pirelli railway yard as part of the Reinventing Cities programme by the Municipality of Milan. Activities included the removal of tracks, sleepers, ballast and railway infrastructure, with management and disposal of materials according to EWC classification. The operations were also accompanied by environmental sampling and controlled processing to manage materials potentially containing asbestos.

Work to complete the environmental restoration, capping and surface water regulation at a hazardous waste site. The project involved reshaping the slopes and waterproofing with geosynthetics, managing slag, building a drainage system and final greening with hydroseeding and plants.

Remediation and disposal of demolition waste containing asbestos at the former Magazzini Taliedo A.M. area in Milan. As part of the work at the site, TIA removed vegetation, selected and decontaminated materials and carefully handled materials, bagging the hazardous fractions and transporting them to authorized plants. Upon completion, we removed the top layer of soil and conducted the final analytical checks.

Remediation, dismantling and demolition prior to the redevelopment of four real estate properties located in strategic areas of Milan. The activities involved storage and office buildings, with land remediation, complete strip out, internal demolition and preparation of the structures for future urban transformations.

Following a hailstorm, urgent work was carried out to secure the unstable parts of an asbestos-cement roof and sheet metal construction. The activities included the removal of the asbestos roof, waste management with collection, sorting, washing, packaging and labelling according to the EWC classification and the subsequent restoration of the roof with insulated sheet-metal panels. The work ended with waste loading, transport and disposal, as well as sampling and environmental analyses.

Asbestos and man-made glass fibre remediation, strip out and selective demolition in Palazzo Broggi in Milan. The work extended to the entire building (more than 50,000 m²), which consists of 4 basement floors, a ground floor and 8 above-ground floors.

TIA completely removed the internal elements, floors, false ceilings, windows and systems, with waste management and traceability according to the LEED protocol and began material recovery and recycling.

Environmental remediation and preparation for the redevelopment of a disused area near Bocconi University slated for the construction of a student residence. The activities included asbestos and MMVF remediation, strip out, demolition, the removal of underground tanks and excavation, with disposal of about 7,500 m³ of land contaminated with hydrocarbons, PAHs and heavy metals.

Remediation and controlled demolition of thermal power plant 1, including the removal of insulation containing asbestos and mineral fibres, remediation of residual fluids and recovery of iron-based materials.Finally, structural reinforcement work was also carried out on the plants remaining in operation.

Environmental remediation, dismantling and demolition of a 15,000-m² former industrial complex within a complex residential area in the centre of Milan.TIA was particularly involved in the strip out, asbestos and MMVF remediation, remediation of contaminated land and controlled demolition of buildings using selective dismantling and dust abatement techniques.

Strip out and asbestos/lead remediation with complete management of site logistics at the real estate complex located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. The activities included the selective removal of internal elements (floors, cladding, false ceilings, partitions and building systems), treating surfaces containing lead and the remediation of materials containing asbestos.

The site was organized using an integrated logistics management system, including traffic, equipment, scaffolding, entrances, site preparation and maintenance of the operational areas.

Asbestos remediation and strip out in the real estate complex located at 26–36 rue du Tonkin in Villeurbanne. The work involved 19 areas with materials containing asbestos, including glues, mastics, coatings, sheaths and technical components.

The project involved an average of 40–60 TIA workers, organized into teams dedicated to clearing, reclaiming and upcycling materials.

Strip out and lead remediation in the real estate complex located on rue de la Banque, in the centre of Paris. As part of the work, TIA protected the architectural elements to be preserved, selectively removed flooring, false ceilings, systems, coatings and technical components and treated surfaces coated with lead paints.

TIA also fully managed the site logistics, including authorizations, equipment, traffic, operational areas and material reuse.

Strip out, asbestos and lead remediation at a building located on rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. The work involved the removal of asbestos-based insulation and the treatment of walls, ceilings and façades containing lead via sanding, chiselling and controlled decontamination operations.

Inspection, monitoring and assessment of the state of materials containing asbestos (MCA) and man-made vitreous fibres (MMVF) in different areas of an industrial plant in Taranto. TIA conducted environmental sampling, SEM analysis and risk assessment of exposure to airborne fibres and prepared the full technical documentation according to current regulations.

Drafting of the characterization plan and the final project for the remediation of the former Fibronit area of Bari, which is included in the National Plan of Contaminated Sites. TIA was responsible for core drilling, sampling and over 400 analyses to look for asbestos and metals in the soil and subsoil and outline the remediation project.

Inventory, inspection and mapping of materials containing asbestos (MCA) and man-made vitreous fibres (MMVF) at over 300 buildings in the Municipality of Milan, including schools, nurseries, libraries, swimming pools and public offices.
The intervention included visual inspections, sampling, laboratory analysis and drafting of technical documentation with classification of materials according to guidelines.

Construction of photovoltaic systems at 16 mass-market retail outlets located in Apulia, Calabria and Sicily. TIA installed systems and coordinated interventions aimed at energy efficiency.

Civil and electromechanical work to refurbish a 3.204-MWp photovoltaic plant in the Municipality of San Giorgio Canavese. The intervention involved the installation of 5,046 high-efficiency photovoltaic modules to increase the production of renewable energy and optimize the performance of the plant.
